What people ask us first

How much does it cost to talk to you?
Nothing. The case evaluation is free and there is no obligation to hire us. If we do take your case, you owe no attorney’s fee unless we recover compensation for you. Court costs and case expenses may still apply, and we will explain those before you sign anything.
Is there a deadline for filing my claim in Texas?
Usually yes, and it is shorter than most people expect. Texas generally allows two years from the date of the injury to file a personal injury lawsuit. Some situations shorten that further — a claim against a city or other government body can require written notice within months — and a few extend it. Because evidence and witness memories fade long before the deadline does, the sooner you call, the more we can do. Tell us what happened and we will tell you where you stand on timing.
Do I even have a case?
That is exactly what the free evaluation is for. Broadly, if someone else’s carelessness caused you harm, you may have a claim — but it depends on the facts, and it is not something to guess at from a web page. It costs you nothing to ask.
What if I was partly at fault?
You may still be able to recover. Texas uses a proportionate responsibility rule: if you are found more than 50% responsible you recover nothing, and below that your recovery is reduced by your share of the fault. Insurers know this, which is why they work so hard to shift blame onto the injured person early. Do not assume you have no claim because someone told you it was partly your fault.
The insurance company already called me. Should I give a statement?
Talk to a lawyer first. The adjuster who calls in the first few days is pleasant, sounds helpful, and is recording a statement that will be used to value — or deny — your claim. You are generally not required to give a recorded statement to the other driver’s insurer.
How long will my case take?
It depends on your injuries and on whether the other side is reasonable. Many claims resolve without a lawsuit; some take considerably longer. What we can promise is that you will know where your case stands, because you will be dealing with the attorney handling it.

Texas usually gives you two years. Most personal injury claims in Texas must be filed within two years of the injury, and some deadlines are far shorter than that. Evidence disappears long before the deadline does. If you are not sure where you stand, call and ask — it costs nothing.
